Description

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 is a track and competition tire developed as original equipment for the Ferrari 458, Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series and Porsche 918 Spyder.

  • A tire specially designed for sports cars
  • Provides superior grip in curves and tight turns
  • High resistance to the highest temperatures

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 is developed to deliver faster track times and consistent performance lap after lap.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 tread incorporates Michelin's Bi-Compound technology in an asymmetric design. Bi-Compound technology features different rubber compounds on the outer and inner zones of the tread. The massive outer shoulders feature a tread compound that has been specially engineered for maximum grip and outstanding dry cornering efficiency, especially in tight turns.

Serrated center ribs and an inner shoulder use a tread compound with a stiffer elastomer for precise steering.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2's internal structure includes two steel belts reinforced with a spiral-wound Twaron cord. Twaron is a polyamide cord that provides a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement over the steel belts to improve durability, handling and high-speed wear.

This ensures that the tire footprint remains the same and centrifugal force is effectively controlled, even at very high speeds.

Select sizes of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 are available with "Track Connect," an assistance system that uses sensors mounted on the tire to monitor tire pressure and temperature.

Combining this information with the knowledge gained from Michelin's extensive racing experience, Track Connect provides personalized advice on optimal tire pressure adjustments after each track session to continuously improve vehicle performance.
