About Continental ExtremeContact DW
Continental's ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus is an ultra-high performance all-season tire designed for performance sedans, sports cars and SUVs.
- Excellent safety on wet and slippery roads
- Outstanding handling and braking
- Exceptional tread life
Specially developed for vehicle owners looking for true year-round traction and exceptional handling, the ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus features SportPlus technology for optimal handling and safety on wet and slippery surfaces.
The ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus (DWS for Dry, Wet & Snow) combined dry and wet performance with snow and slush traction during winter conditions and created an enhanced year-round driving experience.
This tire was composed of a rubber compound enriched with silica and saline additives—the ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus has excellent tread life, resulting in a better driving experience.
The unique asymmetrical tread design with Continental's chamfered edges ensures maximum contact on dry roads, and the traction grooves (ridges at the bottom of the tracks) improve traction on snow.
Outer shoulder macro-blocks improve responsiveness and cornering stability. Independent x-type center blocks, separated by high-angle and cross-cut grooves, provide the biting edges needed to promote traction in all road conditions Canada's four seasons have to offer.
The independent interior shoulder blocks help disperse water to enhance hydroplaning resistance and traction in adverse weather conditions.
The tire's internal structure features two steel belts reinforced with seamless nylon face layers that are spirally wound to ensure long-term integrity under high-speed conditions while reducing weight and helping to provide a more consistent ride quality.
Performance Indicators
Continental engineers have included wear indicators that will inform motorists of the tire's performance level in dry, wet and snowy road conditions.
A visible "DWS" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions, as well as wet roads and snow. After the "S" has worn away, the remaining "DW" indicates the tire only has appropriate tread depth for dry and most wet road conditions. And after the "W" and "S" have both worn away. The remaining "D" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions only.
